Event Report- Transform Your Life with Neuro Linguistic Psychology

Well-known stage actor Shekhar Naware conducted another free introductory session on Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), on 26 November 2013, following requests from those who could not be attend the previous session.
This was followed by a full-day training on 30th November at which he demonstrated how to recognise different personality types and deal with them accordingly. Mr Naware also taught techniques to improve communication by removing the mismatch between personality types—a factor that often leads to miscommunication.
Every individual deals through five senses—visual, auditory, kinesthetic (touch or feel), olfactory (smell) and gustatory (taste). It is possible to access the meaning of a word in any one, or any combination, of the five sensory channels. Matching our communication with the sensory preferences of the person with whom we are communicating will help to get our messages across effectively, according to NLP experts.
NLP is also useful in overcoming phobias and fears, generated due to past experiences. NLP practitioners like to say, as Mr Naware reminded, “God may forgive you for your sins, but your neurology won’t.” NLP experts work to change this.
NLP techniques have been known to achieve excellent results. Simple visualisations of successful outcomes, or talking to oneself, to bring about positive results, are some ways to improve performance in any field. According to Mr Naware, visual and audio instructions activate the mental resources to work towards a target. Techniques to harness the power of your mind to improve one’s performancein any field were shared by Mr Naware and illustrated with many real-life examples.
Mr Naware has worked with cricketers and actors to change the outcome of their efforts. He gave examples of how a few sessions of NLP training of several Ranji Trophy players in Mumbai made a huge difference to their game.
Mr Naware says, “NLP is easy to learn and requires some application and practice. It is a channel to tap the vast power of your own mind.”
The audience participated by asking questions relating to meditation, hypnosis, etc. Eagerness to learn more about NLP was evident in the enthusiasm of those who attended the introductory session and followed it up with the full-day training programme.
